Julia Abe to Launch Her First-Ever Apparel Collection

Along with her debut U.S. solo exhibition.

Model and artist Julia Abe is taking her career to new heights by releasing her first-ever apparel collection with PROM, an LA-based collective. In addition, Abe is also preparing for her first U.S. solo art exhibition.

The range is comprised of seven timeless pieces featuring sketches inspired by Abe’s conversation with PROM’s founder Avery on their “mutual experience of living in Japan while being perceived as outsiders,” she shares. Standouts include the Murasaki All Over Print Pajama set dressed in an eggplant purple hue and covered with cartoon human heads. Elsewhere, the Tree Girl Seamless Ribbed Crop top comes in white and sports a graphic of a girl turning into a tree.

“Although the characters on the clothes are colorful, the pieces for the exhibition are predominantly monotone. Some paintings are entirely charcoal, a medium that is very new to me but already a favorite,” Abe explains. “You’ll also see some acrylic paintings and crayon sketches. I’m sure the public will be able to connect to at least one of the characters since they are all based on people around me.”

Abe’s apparel collection releases on October 29 via PROM’s website. Her “Respect the カラス” exhibition will also launch on the same day in Beverly Hills, California until October 31.
